Leaven, Its Biblical usage and interpretation

As to the meaning of the word ‘leaven’ there seems to be much confusion and inexactness. Probably, few christians would be ready, off-hand, to answer the question: What is leaven?
It will be seen that the correct understanding of this word, is vital to the whole teaching of the Word of God and fundamental to our whole practical life.
